I really don’t get God’s love for me!

I’m starting to see that I really don’t have a clue what the Lord’s love truly looks like for me. If I did… I wouldn’t be so surprised by it so often. His love walks with us in the deepest valleys… Often I think that true love really would just take the valley away! But I think I’m starting to get that if it was taken away then that would mean that I would miss experiencing the depth of love it takes to walk through it with me…

This reminds me of the book, Hinds’ Feet on High Places, that I read in high school… my dad read it to us when we were kids too. Such a beautiful allegory of a girl (Much-Afraid) longing to leap on the High Places with the Good Shepherd… only she is crippled and fears she will never be able to. The Good Shepherd takes her on a journey where she gains hind’s feet that allow her to join her Good Shepherd in the High Places – but the journey is very difficult. It requires a lot of sacrifice… even the companions the Good Shepherd chooses for her are ‘Sorrow’ and ‘Suffering’ – but, the only way to develop these hinds’ feet that she so longs for is to walk this journey… and experience the depth of love that the Good Shepherd has for her by going through it. Excellent read.

Are you wishing the Good Shepherd would remove the valley you are walking in?… Today I’m going to change my focus and look for my Good Shepherd’s love as He walks with me through this valley…
