[21 day Pause] day 3: help
I was listening to the radio and someone was sharing a story about carrying his children on his shoulders. His older children enjoyed being up high and would get giddy to be on their father’s shoulders. His youngest child; however, would squirm and wiggle… and eventually cry and throw a bit of a fit because he was afraid. He hated being up on his dad’s shoulders. See, he didn’t understand that his dad wasn’t going to let anything happen to him. He didn’t realize that if he would simply relax, it might be kinda’ fun…
Got me wondering which child I am like when my Lord is carrying me on His shoulders.
Do I find joy, trusting that my strong Father’s got me?
Or, am I consumed by fear and wiggle and cry to get out of the safe arms of my Lord?
I was reading Psalm 121…
It talks about seeing the big mountains… and knowing that it isn’t the mountains even that give me strength – it is the CREATOR of said mountains that bring me help!
This BIG GOD is the One who carries me… I need only to relax and see the incredibly abundant life He offers.
Pause.
Enjoy the One who loves you so and carries you on His shoulders…
For King and Country: Shoulders
1-2 “I look up to the mountains;
does my strength come from mountains?
No, my strength comes from God,
who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.
3-4 He won’t let you stumble,
your Guardian God won’t fall asleep.
Not on your life! Israel’s
Guardian will never doze or sleep.
5-6 God’s your Guardian,
right at your side to protect you—
Shielding you from sunstroke,
sheltering you from moonstroke.
7-8 God guards you from every evil,
he guards your very life.
He guards you when you leave and when you return,
he guards you now, he guards you always.”
Psalm 121 MSG
