Are you Sarah Conner?

Do You Know Who You Are? You are No Longer Ashes! Priceless!! #ActLikeIt #NoLongerAshes

You may not know who Sarah Conner is… But, her story is probably very much like yours.

Sarah Conner is the leader of a rebellion that saves humanity… in the future… [according to the 80’s movie series Terminator]

In the first movie, Sarah is confronted by this future. It’s present day and she is being hunted down. She can’t figure out why someone is wanting her dead… she is a nobody.

The thing is – this guy who is going after her and wants her dead… he knows who she is.

From the future, Kyle Reese is out to protect Sarah…
Sarah Conner’s response is, “This is a mistake. I haven’t done anything.”

But Kyle’s responds… “No. But you will.”

Friends. Do you know who you are?

In the Terminator movie, the bad guys came to the past because they knew the only way to stop Sarah Conner was to get to her when she thought she was a nobody…

Could it be that our enemy is using the same strategy?

I don’t think we truly know who we are… but you can bet that our enemy does.

Not only does satan know who we are, He is counting on us being stuck in our past believing that we don’t have anything to offer in this fight.

Friends – We must know the incredible power we have in Christ!

We have to share our stories with each other…
with our children…
and recognize the redeeming power of our Lord working through and in us.

As I’m typing this, Overcome by Jeremy Camp is playing through my headphones… the song is straight from Revelation 12:

In verses 7-9 we see war has broken out in heaven. Michael and his angels were fighting against satan – the one who leads the whole world astray . But the great dragon (satan) was hurled down and his angels with him…

Look at what happens next:

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:

“Now have come the salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Messiah.
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,
who accuses them before our God day and night,
has been hurled down.
They triumphed over him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death.
Therefore rejoice, you heavens
and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea,
because the devil has gone down to you!
He is filled with fury,
because he knows that his time is short.”

Just like the terminator, our enemy is incredibly strategic. He is roaming around just waiting to pounce and devour… And, here I am just barely getting through my day.

Hmmm.. Who is winning?

I am Sarah Conner.

I am not a nobody.

I have an enemy seeking to destroy me.

But I forget.

At Bible study tonight we talked a bit about our stories and the power they have when combined with the redeeming blood of Jesus.

His work is beautiful… But our enemy wants us to forget and sometimes in the middle of it, he shoots us down and tells us lies like:

“No one wants to hear about your past…”
Or
“You aren’t worth it…”
Or
“What difference does it make if I say anything?”
Or
“My story is boring…”
Or
“What if they leave me after finding out the truth…”

The TRUTH is – God uses our stories to share His story and to encourage others in their journey…

The TRUTH is – We are warriors for the One true King with a resource more powerful than any other power…

The TRUTH isYou are a child of the One true King!

Make no mistake. The enemy knows this truth too and will not stop in his efforts to discourage and tear us down.

Feeling discouraged?
Remember – we are all in the same boat. Share your story and let’s fight together in this battle… The knights needed help putting their armor on… Let’s help each other put on the armor of God and fight!

Remember who you are.

We are No Longer Ashes – Let’s act like it.

**inspired by a talk Lisa Bevere shared at Woman of Faith 2014 – reminding me to get up and fight!

Who does God say we are? Our identity is in Christ. This is a christianese term I am finally starting to understand. Who does He say we are? Ask him because he will tell you. We try and identify ourselves with our addictions or our faults, but that is not how He see us. He sees us a perfect in his eyes, he loves us and wants the best for us. Satans best defense in stopping us from showing off God’s glory is to speak lies into our lives.
“We must know the incredible power we have in Christ!” Yeah the power that raised Him from the dead is the power that lives in us.
    Great post Jenni!!!
