Hunting for treasure

This month.
It’s about gratitude…
giving thanks – the deep, true thanks – in the middle of chaos, ugly or beautiful.

The treasure – sometimes hunted down – but, always there.

In preparing for this month’s focus on giving thanks, I was studying where in scripture it talks about ‘seeking God’…

In every single mention of seeking or drawing near to our Lord I found God faithful to be found, to give abundantly, to lavish His grace on us when we simply seek Him.

A couple of days ago I shared some of the details from a car accident I was in a few years ago.
What I didn’t share was the amazing beauty that came from the ugly that day.

My dad gently reminded me that God was abundantly available that day… and in the days to follow.
Here is a little glimpse of this abundance poured on me.

In the midst of my physical hurting…
after waiting for what seemed like f o r e v e r, I was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher expressing my concern over picking up my children.

I mentioned that they were at our church and suddenly I heard a voice –
“I go to that church.”
I don’t know when he showed up.
Apparently, the man standing outside of my broken window had been driving behind the semi-truck that hit me.

He didn’t see the accident, but when he was driving down the road, he saw my car and noticed I was alone so he stopped to help me.

Turned out {surprise, surprise!} Bill went to our church and knew my mom who was the pre-school director watching my children. He went to the church for me and told her what happened while the ambulance brought me to the ER. My kids were taken care of…

Details.
When we seek Him, we find Him.
Look for them… for HIM.
He was abundantly available to me that day – in the tiniest of details – even in the super ugly.

He is abundantly available to you today.

Jeremiah 29:13 says,
“You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.”

Go on a treasure hunt this month.
Take on the challenge to seek HIM in creation, in your busy day, as you are driving your children around…
