The King who fights for us
A few years ago we were reading a story to our children about a boy who was saved by the King. This boy had been in the dungeon enslaved for years… and in the hour of his greatest need, the King showed up and rescued him.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how the one true King, our God, does this.
He shows up in the hour of our greatest need…
“Be brave. Be strong. Don’t give up.
Expect God to get here soon.”
Psalm 31:24 MSG
He shows up in the moment of our greatest need and fights for us.
But, what has really spoken to me this week is that He doesn’t just show up for the big battles… you know – the David meets Goliath battles.
The battles that are huge and highly visible…
The battles that are big, public circumstances.
Our God… He is a very personal King.
And what has really captured my heart this week is that this God…
He shows up in the moment of our greatest need in our private battles too.
The deeply personal battles of bitterness…
of broken hearts…
battles of infertility or miscarriage.
This King of ours is fully capable to fight for us when we fight the big, taunting Goliath… or when our enemies are chasing us down like Saul chased David.
But, what is super beautiful to me today is that He is right there fighting the battle inside our hearts.
“The righteous cry, and the Lord hears
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
Psalm 34:17-19 NASB
Feeling crushed in spirit?
Overwhelmed?
Is your heart breaking?
Run to the King. The Lord hears the cry of the righteous and He is the ultimate deliverer!
When my world is breaking.
Heaven stands.
