“Well ~ Half a plan.”

Our family enjoys the story of Robin Hood.
A while back we watched the BBC TV series and it was kind of a joke how Robin always seemed to have a plan…
Well, “half a plan” (as he would say).
Sometime between the gang jumping into the ‘half a plan’ and complete chaos, Hood would figure something out and they would all be saved from the horrible sheriff of Nottingham and escape to Sherwood forest just in time.

Our life has had its share of struggles.
My husband is unemployed and trying to start up his own business.
A dear family friend suddenly passed away recently.
Some relationships in our lives have been difficult.

You know… life stuff.

It’s in these moments… when everything around us seems to be pushing in.
When we are tired.
When we are worn out and overwhelmed.
When we simply want to sleep the day away…
in my human fatigue, I wonder… “Lord, what are you doing?

I was encouraged by Sally Clarkson’s words the other day,
God’s plan is still sure“.

It might not look like MY plan…
in fact, it probably won’t.

If I am honest… {sigh}
My plan would be based on what I see and understand TODAY.
But, my King isn’t bound by today.
He sees the big picture and bases His plans for me (us) on ETERNITY.

Sometimes what I see looks like half a plan.
Here is the thing – It’s not about what I see… or understand.

It’s about trusting His character…
trusting truth…
Jeremiah 29 tells us that He has a plan for our lives…
plans for a future and a hope that is based on eternity.

When I get all caught up in my circumstances and all that is around me, it can look chaotic. impossible. Like half a plan.
When I look at my Lord I see what is true.

He doesn’t have half a plan… He has a whole plan.
